Zandvoort

This seaside resort has had a well-known tourist reputation for a long time. And well-deserved! There is a lot of activity. Zandvoort has a vibrant nightlife. Culinary-wise there is more then enough choice to enjoy a delicious meal.

What does the beach have to offer?

The beach of Zandvoort is very popular. During the summer it´s best to arrive early to find a good spot. There are numerous restaurants, showers and toilets present. To go surfing, kite flying or horse riding, Zandvoort is an excellent place to be. The beach is easy accessible for the disabled. At pavilion nr. 5, 20 and 26 you can rent special wheelchairs.

A look around town

Zandvoort used to be a small village that lived of fishery and agriculture. The construction of the Zandvoortseweg completely changed all that. The village became easily accessible than and its popularity grew rapidly. Now you can still wander through the narrow, curvy streets of the old centre. The VVV (Tourist Office) has signposted a walk.

Sights

The Zandvoort Circus holds an amusement hall, a movie theatre and a theatre. Other than that there are numerous attractions, where especially the children will have a wonderful time. The Museum of Zandvoort is also well-worth a visit. It shows the image of what the town once looked like. The race circuit where the annual formula 3000 races take place is situated in the dunes.

A little bit further

Zandvoort is situated in nature reserve the Kennemerduinen (Kennemer dunes) it offers extensive cycling- and walking possibilities. Its location by the railroad also offers the possibility to take day trips to cities like Haarlem, with the Teylermuseum, the Frans Hals museum or to the capital of Amsterdam. You see, you don´t have to get bored for one second here!
